10 December 2014 / UK-Algeria Trade and Investment Forum

Forum d cembre 2014 A UK-Algeria Forum on Trade and Investment was held on 10th December 2014 in London focussing on business opportunities in Algeria.

The Forum was officially opened by Mr Phillip Hammond, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, and Mr Abdeslam Bouchouareb, Minister for Industry and Mines, with the presence of Mr Amara Benyounes, Trade Minister, and Lord Risby, the British Prime Minister’s Envoy for Economic Partnership with Algeria.

Organised by Development Market Associates (DMA), in collaboration with the Algerian Embassy in London, the British Embassy in Algiers and the UKTI, the Forum was a great success owing to the exceptional participation of companies of both countries, represented by their CEOs from public and private sectors totalling 500 companies, and to the rich presentations and debates.

On this occasion a clear message was delivered by the Algerian officials “Algeria is a country open to businesses”.

Two agreements were signed during the Forum, both with the public pharmaceutical group SAIDAL, the first with the international group CLINICA to support the Cancer plan in Algeria, and the second was signed with AstraZeneca, company already operating in Algeria.
