18 January 2019: Presidential election on the 18th of April 2019

President Abdelaziz Bouteflika issued a decree calling voters to the polls for a presidential election that will take place on Thursday, April 18, 2019.

The Embassy of Algeria in the United Kingdom informs the Algerian nationals that prior to that election, an extraordinary review of the Electoral List will take place from January 23rd to February 6th, 2019.

All the nationals aged 18 years, registered at the Consulate and enjoying their civil and political rights are invited to register on the electoral roll.


7-8 December 2018: beatification of 19 clergymen and women in Algeria

beatificationThe Catholic Church has beatified on the 7th of December 2018 in Algeria 19 clergymen and women killed by the terrorists.

The ceremony, the first of its kind in a Muslim country, was attended by the Algerian Religious Affairs Minister Mohamed Aissa, the Cardinal Angelo Becciu, representative of Pope Francis, the ambassadors of several countries and various religious dignitaries and by more than 1,300 people.

M. Mohamed Aissa hailed this gathering that brought together Muslims and Christians as “a universal message for peace and a confirmation that living together in harmony in Algeria is possible.”

Pope Francis said in a message read by Cardinal Angelo Becciu, prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints that that this unprecedented event will draw a great sign of brotherhood in the algerian sky for the whole world.”

For the foreign medias, it’s “a symbol of friendship”, a “message of peace and living together from Algeria” and “a real opportunity to strengthen the understanding between Muslims and Christians”.

 


31st of October-1st on November 2018: visit of M. Temmar to UK

TemmarMr Abdelwahid Temmar Minister of Housing, Urbanism and the City participated on Wednesday 31st of October 2018 in Liverpool in the official ceremony celebrating the World Cities Day, as a guest of honor.

The minister, who was accompanied by Algeria’s Ambassador to London Amar Abba, has outlined in his speech, President Abdelaziz Bouteflika policies on housing.

During his stay in Liverpool, Mr Temmar discussed with UN Under-Secretary-General, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UNHabitat), Mrs Maimunah Mohd Sharif, cooperation and coordination between the two parties.

On the 1st of November, the Minister of Housing, Urbanism and the City came to London and presented to an audience of Algerians living in the UK, the Public Promotional Housing (LPP) formula designed for the members of the national community abroad.

During the meeting organised Thursday at the Algerian embassy in London by the Ambassador Amar Abba, Mr Temmar set out all aspects related to the formula and the communication mechanisms developed in collaboration with the Foreign Ministry.

October 2018: 3rd International Waste Recovery and Valuation exhibition in Algiers

Revade 2018-300x145The Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry organizes in collaboration with the National Agency for Waste, SAFEX and the CCIAF, the 3rd International Waste Recovery and Valuation Exhibition "REVADE".

The event is scheduled from 08th to 11th of October, 2018 at le Palais des Expositions Pins Maritimes, Algiers, Algeria, under the theme "the circular entrepreneurship, a lever of development of wastes management". 

This exhibition is a business event aimed at promoting entrepreneurship in the field of waste recycling, recovery and processing, as well as encouraging investment and the start-up of new companies using the latest equipment and technologies in the field.

Over four days, REVADE will be a platform of debate to promote circular entrepreneurship in the field of waste recycling, recovery and processing.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, a rich program of conferences and workshops has been arranged to address various aspects of this topic

16 May 2018: celebration of the International Day of Living Together in Peace

vivre ensembleThe United Nations General Assembly celebrated on Wednesday the 16th of May, for the first time, the International Day of Living Together in Peace.

On the 8th of December 2017, the United Nations General Assembly adopted, at the initiative of Algeria and the International Association of Sufi Alawiya (AISA), a resolution proclaiming May 16 as the International Day of “Living Together in Peace.”

In a message on the occasion of the celebration, President Abdelaziz Bouteflika said that “the proclamation of this day is recognition of Algeria’s role in promoting peace”.
